Richard H. Adler was recently interviewed by the King County Bar Bulletin, the leading newsletter for the King County Bar Association. He was the featured attorney for the month of November 2009. The article entitled “Giving Others a Voice” spotlighted Mr. Adler’s projects as the President of the Brain Injury Association of Washington. Mr. Adler spearheaded an initiative to pass a first in the nation law that protects youth athletes and concussions. The law, now known as “The Zackery Lystedt Law” protects an athlete playing in a public-school or private sports program suffers a suspected concussion, he or she must be removed from play. The law requires that all athletes be medically cleared by a “licensed health care provider trained in the evaluation and management of concussion.” The article in the King County Bar Bulletin reviews the Lystedt case that received a 15 million dollar settlement from the school district. The article also highlights Mr. Adler’s journey through law school, how he settled in Seattle to practice law, and why he choose to exclusively practice personal injury law.
