My background & credentials
My family fled Cuba in the 1950s. They left their homes, jobs, and family to start over with a few small suitcases and a whole lot of determination in a country where they didn’t speak the language or understand the system. Rightly, I was expected to work hard and make sure their sacrifices continued to be meaningful. Representing the Latino community as a Spanish speaking attorney fulfills that desire inside my practice.
Determined to start making a difference, I put myself through college and law school. While in law school, I took a summer internship prosecuting criminals and protecting victims of domestic violence. Wanting to strengthen my skills in the courtroom, I took a job as a trial attorney for a large insurance company. I represented individuals and companies that were at fault for causing injuries, but at the end of the day, I was essentially working for the insurance corporation. Despite a track record of numerous trial cases with exceptional verdicts, I found myself at odds with my own company. I had built up highly specialized knowledge of the insurance industry but knew I couldn’t keep working on what felt like the wrong side. I wanted to shift from defense work (tearing down cases) to plaintiff’s personal injury work (building people’s cases).
Now, after over 25 years of practice, I’m honored to be a partner at Adler Giersch, working with a team who shares the same values: honoring and supporting our clients through a tireless pursuit of great results. I work across the Pacific Northwest, including Seattle and the East Side, and I manage a dedicated office in Kent to serve the South Sound community.
How I care for my clients
I learn by listening first. Everyone wants an excellent result to their case but they often have additional goals. For some clients, the chief desire is to reduce stress and take back control over their lives. For others, they want to understand the legal process more clearly. I tailor my strategies based on their specific needs. Whether they’ve had a car accident, a brain injury, or any type of serious trauma, my clients have been through something painful and life-altering, so I go out of my way to treat them with great care and restore a sense of hope. The best results come from collaboration with my clients and the people caring for them as they recover from their injuries. We strive to become like an extended family. I never want my clients to feel alone, fearful or out of the loop, so I always make it a point to be directly accessible to them.
When it comes down to it, I fight ethically, smart and hard. I refuse to let my clients be bullied by insurance companies who don’t believe them, and who are only interested in saving dollars. I stay by my clients’ side until their case is resolved no matter how much time it takes to get them the best possible result. Combining my experience, compassion and ability to serve my clients whether they speak English or Spanish is something I look forward to and am grateful for every day.
He always kept us informed in the process, carefully articulated the details of the case, gave us our options and didn’t pressure us into an unwanted court case. Steven always did what was best for my daughter and not his bottom line.

How I’m serving our community
I am proud to directly support many of the healthcare organizations in the Puget Sound, and the dedicated healers who work there. I also support organizations that help Spanish-speaking members of our community to navigate life more fairly and effectively. Helping nonprofits that focus on saving animals is another passion of mine.

When I’m not at work, you can find me…
Spending time with my wife, our friends, and our rescue cats. We spend as much time outdoors in our beautiful PNW as we can. I’m also an avid guitar player who enjoys experiencing and playing all types of music.
