Jacob W. Gent
Mr. Gent earned his Juris Doctor from Widener University School of Law in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in August 2009. He continued working for Adler Giersch, PS while attending law school at night, completing a four year evening program in three years. While in school he was a member of the Trial Advocacy Honor Society and participated in mock trials and trial skills workshops. In the summer of 2007, he studied international and constitutional law abroad through the law school's exchange program in Sydney, Australia. During his final year, Mr. Gent worked in the Widener University Civil Law Clinic, providing free legal services on a wide variety of matters to indigent, elderly and disabled individuals. Befitting his ‘rising star’ status, Mr. Gent was admitted to the Bar and sworn in by two Washington Supreme Court Justices, Tom Chambers and Debra L. Stephens during a private ceremony in October, 2010. He is licensed to practice law in federal court and all jurisdictions in the state of Washington. He is a participating member of the Washington State Bar Association, Washington State Association for Justice-Eagle, and the Brain Injury Association of Washington. Mr. Gent will continue working closely with managing partner, Richard H. Adler, in the firm's Everett office. He will be living and working in the greater Everett area and looks forward to his involvement in the Snohomish, Skagit, Whatcom and Island counties. He has written articles in the firm's Advocate newsletter on insurance and injury issues and has also lectured on similar subjects to healthcare providers. He is also a contributor to Mr. Adler’s recent book, From Injury to Action: Navigating Your Personal Injury Claim (2011). Mr. Gent is a contributor editor to Understanding Medical Words: Musculoskeletal Dictionary and Common Legal Words in a Personal Injury Case. Both are due out in the latter part of 2011. Prior to joining Adler Giersch, Mr. Gent was a Litigation Specialist for Farmers Insurance Company handling personal injury claims for over four years. While at Farmers, he completed the Claims Management Training Program, served a backup Claims’ Supervisor, and was a Certified Liability Claims Specialist by the Insurance Institute of America. He also has experience handling medical, dental, vision and disability claims for Teamster unions. Born and raised in central Illinois, Mr. Gent moved to Seattle in 1994 after receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Eastern Illinois University. He worked for over a decade as an actor, stage manager and director at several semi-professional theaters throughout the Puget Sound region. He is excited to bring the creative energy and communication skills from the stage to the practice of law in the courtroom. In addition to live theatre, Mr. Gent loves to travel. |
