Dr. Richard G. Ellenbogen, Chief of Neurological Surgery at Harborview, Professor and Chairman of Neurological Surgery at University of Washington, and The Theodore S. Roberts Endowed Chair of Pediatric Neurology, has accepted the position Co-Chair of Head, Neck and Spine Medical Committee to the NFL.

Dr. Ellenbogen along with Dr. Hunt Batjer of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine were named co-chairs by Commissioner Rodger Goodell on March 16, 2010.

The committee was formerly known as the mild traumatic brain injury committee until the previous co-chairs resigned after much critizied in a hearing by Congress in November 2009.
